AppLock That Allows You To Stay Protected
A young woman named Sonia used to love using her Android phone for everything from playing games and watching videos to handling work emails.
But when her inquisitive friends or relatives would take her phone when she wasn’t looking, she began to worry more and more about illegal access. She required a method to protect the privacy and security of her apps.
Sonia made the decision to take charge of her phone’s security one day and started looking into ways to lock specific apps. After some research, she found that Android phones provided a few straightforward but efficient ways to stop unwanted access to particular apps.
1. Using Built-in Features to Configure App Lock:
Sonia discovered that certain Android phone models and software versions have an integrated feature known as “App Lock” or “App Lock Screen.” She was able to create a PIN, password, or pattern just for each app as a result.
Sonia went to the settings on her phone and did the following to activate this feature:
1. Locate Security by scrolling down in Settings.
2. She found the App Lock option in Security.
3. Sonia chose which apps, such as her photo gallery, banking apps, and social media apps, she wished to lock.
4. For an additional degree of protection, she activated biometric features (facial unlock and fingerprint) and set a PIN.
People were now required to enter their PIN or use their fingerprint in order to access any of the locked applications. Sonia felt a wave of relief knowing her apps were well protected.
2. Using Third-Party App Lockers:
Sonia wanted a more powerful and adaptable Android phone, even though it had some app-locking features. She discovered a number of third-party app lockers that provided additional features, such as concealing apps from the home screen and hiding the lock screen, after conducting some additional research.
“AppLock” is an app that Sonia downloaded from the Google Play Store. She opened it and configured it after installation:
1. She configured the app itself with a master password or fingerprint authentication.
2. She selected the apps she wished to lock, including her social media, messaging, and shopping apps.
3. To give Sonia even more peace of mind, AppLock also provided the ability to snap a picture of anyone attempting to unlock her apps improperly.
By installing the third-party app, Sonia could be sure that her private apps would remain inaccessible to anyone attempting to get past her security.
3. Turning on two-factor authentication (recommended but optional):
Sonia made the decision to go above and beyond to improve security for a few apps, particularly her banking and email apps. For those services, she turned on two-factor authentication (2FA).
With 2FA, a verification code would still be sent to her phone or email in order for her to access the app, even if someone were to figure out her password.
She went into the settings of each app and followed the directions to activate 2FA, which is an extra layer of security.
4. Continue to Pay Attention to App Permissions:
Finally, Sonia made sure to frequently check the permissions of the app. Apps occasionally ask for more access than is necessary, so turning off unused permissions added an additional degree of protection. She could restrict access by navigating to Settings > Apps > [App Name] > Permissions.
Sonia felt secure knowing that her phone and apps were safe from unwanted access thanks to all of these security measures. No one could access her apps without her consent, including her private images, social media accounts, and sensitive banking data.
Sonia didn’t have to worry about inquisitive people obtaining her personal information after that day because her phone was always safe. One app at a time, she had taken charge of her privacy.
